This memorial was built by the IAFF to bear witness to the courage, dedication, duty and sacrifice of it’s fallen members. We come here to honor what these brother and sisters did on this earth, and to memorialize their names for future generations. In Honor of Captain John R. Duff.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, the Annual Awards Ceremony recognized individuals who have made a difference to the quality of service in the Ventura City Fire Department.
Pictured from top left with Chief McPherson are: 2013 Chief’s Award, Ventura City Firefighters Auxiliary; Firefighter of the Year, Mark Nielsen; Nancy Merman EMS Award, Grant Ellison; Greg Andrews Award, Tom Weinell; and Fire Prevention Employee of the Year, Laurie Hixon.
We had a great time this past weekend honoring the “Best” and “Worst” mustaches on our departments men. This annual event lasts for the month of November (“Movember”) where the Ventura City Fire Department employees are encouraged to let their mustaches grow to raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
Congrats to this years winners in our various “Best/Worst/etc. Mustache” categories!
Thank you to everyone who came out to participate in this years Fill The Boot – A Benefit For Muscular Dystrophy. We raised a lot of money for a great cause and could not have done it without the support of the Ventura City Fire Department employees and their friends and family.
